CLICK ON EITHER OF THE LINKS BELOW FOR THE FIRST IN THE SERIES - Qi Shi is simple, easy, not time consuming and makes a great 'commencement' (.... and that's what it's called! )
I'm posting this on social media and you may choose to find the posts there every week, but if you haven't yet joined my (free) website newsletter mailing list, I encourage you to do so. I won't inundate your inbox but the blogs in the series will simply land in your inbox every week or so, with no effort on your part! Also, when you join you'll receive 5 free digital 'gifts'.
I’ve been fit, resilient, and healthy all my life.
I’ve supported my body energetically and physically and even walked the Camino de Santiago to celebrate turning 60.
That was 13 years ago and, call me Pollyanna, but I truly believed that as I travelled along my personal timeline I would remain strong, balanced, resilient, and healthy… why wouldn’t I?
But reality has a way of tapping us on the shoulder.
As the years pass, our bodies can begin to wear down.
Once upon a time, my body bounced back with ease after questionable lifestyle choices (we won’t go into those!).
These days, though, it’s my turn to nurture and care for my body — payback time.
And the signs? They creep in quietly.
Holding the rail going upstairs.
The suitcase feeling heavier than it used to.
So does the kettle and don’t get me started on that iron saucepan.
Shopping bags suddenly seem way too heavy.
Picking something up from the floor requiring thought… and strategic manoeuvring! And when I do get down there, I’m liable to start looking around for other jobs to justify the effort before getting back up!
It creeps up on you and then, one day, reality strikes:
IT HAS HAPPENED.
Not overnight. Not dramatically. Just quietly enough that one day you realise your body is having a different conversation with you.
The truth is, we can’t stop time — but we can get curious. We can explore enjoyable, practical ways to slow down its effects and support our bodies, whatever our age, so we can be the best version of ourselves and enjoy each chapter as it unfolds.
Because perhaps ageing isn’t the enemy — disconnection from our body is. I find I still think I’m 35 but most of the systems of my body disagree.
I’m now well into my 70s and I still want to walk with the dogs, climb fences, garden… and yes, stand on one leg while putting my trousers on!
So this summer I’m making myself the research project.
Each week I’ll try ONE specific self-care technique, rooted in Energy Medicine — because that’s what I know best — and I’ll share them in a free weekly blog on my website. (www.madisonking.com )
I’d love you to join me.
Your feedback and experiences matter too, and subscribing to my newsletter is the easiest way for me to share these posts — and saves you scrolling Facebook to find me.
At the end of summer, I’ll reveal the Top 3 practices that made the biggest difference for me.
So who’s with me? Let’s explore this together — with curiosity, compassion… and perhaps the occasional creaky knee.
I’m genuinely excited about this self-care adventure.
In the Crone Zone, we don’t just surrender to time – we find empowered, practical, natural ways to slow it down.
With love
Maddie
