A student asked: What energy tools can I use to calm and harmonize our 5 year old husky mix's, excitement when she’s around our newborn granddaughter?
She wants to perch on the table edge, sniff and is fascinated when the baby arrives.
We hold her harness until she calms and settles down.
What energy tools can I use to assist her to calm herself?
She may be overwhelmed by new energy, new scent, new sounds, and a huge shift in pack dynamics.
New-borns have a very open, high-frequency energy field.
To animals—especially intuitive breeds like huskies—this can feel magnetic, fascinating, and slightly destabilizing.
They are likely:
Drawn to the baby’s strong life-force
Unsure of her role in this new “pack order”
Excited but also trying to regulate herself
So the goal is grounding and reassurance.
For example ....
Ground Her
Place one hand on the chest (heart center)
One hand over her hips or lower back
Breathe slowly and deeply for 6–8 breaths
Intend: “You are safe. You belong. You are calm.”
Dogs entrain quickly to our nervous system—your calm becomes hers. So work on yourself too.
Canine Figure Eight
This is a great go-to for excitement and overstimulation.
How to do it:
With flat hands, trace a slow sideways figure 8 over the body
Start at the shoulders, cross the spine, move down toward the hips
Keep movements slow and rhythmic
Do this before and after baby interactions
This balances left/right brain and helps integrate excitement without overwhelm.
Triple Warmer Soothing
Triple Warmer governs stress response.
Stroke slowly from behind the ears, down the neck, along the spine to the tail
Use long, calming strokes
Repeat 3–5 times
This tells her nervous system: “.All is well.”
Let her briefly sniff baby items (blanket, clothing) before meeting the baby
This reduces novelty overload and supports integration.
Energy Clearing for the Space
New babies change the whole household field.
Simple space reset:
Gently clap your hands in corners of the room
Open a window briefly if possible
Intend calm, harmony, and shared safety
dogs will sense this immediately.
Flower Essence Support (Optional but Lovely)
If appropriate:
Rescue Remedy for Pets
Walnut (for adapting to change)
Impatiens (for excitement and overstimulation)
A few drops in water or rubbed into ears.
