Develop your '6th sense'

Over the decades I've had great delight in sharing a technique I call 'Coming to your senses'. I was introduced to a variation of it in the 'early days' and I'll often do this when I'm walking the dogs, I find a quiet place on the hills, beach or in the woods and 'come to my senses'

As we have evolved as a species, we have come to feel safe with and rely on logic and intellect at the expense of our ‘senses.’  The internet is King in our society today, Facebook, his wife, and Mr. Google, their son. Let's not even mention AI.   There is a place for them, and I certainly couldn’t do my job as a teacher and writer without them.  BUT they should not be rulers of our lives.

Sensing is not logical.

It cannot be explained in a linear way.

It must be experienced.

The theory is that if you exercise and heighten all your 5 senses, your 6th will begin to bloom.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE AWAKEN OUR SENSES?

As we begin to awaken and strengthen our senses, something quite beautiful can happen.

We become more receptive — to ourselves, to others and to the world around us.

The list of possibilities is long, including ....

  • Energy centres open and we take on more ‘light’.

  • Our perceptions change. We begin to see the nuances, notice the subtleties and hear the messages more clearly.

  • We become more present. Instead of living so much in our heads, we become more fully here — noticing what we might previously have filtered out.

  • It becomes clearer how we are manipulated by fear, and we become more able to recognise fear for what it is and choose love instead.

  • Life becomes less fearful as we develop a silent ‘knowing’, together with greater discernment and wisdom.

  • We learn to distinguish between intuition and fear — between what genuinely feels true and what may be conditioning, expectation or somebody else's influence.

  • We become more sensitive to the energy of people, places and situations. We notice what lifts us, what drains us and what simply doesn't feel right.

  • We reconnect with our bodies. We begin to hear the body's whispers before they need to become shouts.

  • We become less reactive and more responsive. There is a little more space between what happens and how we choose to respond.

  • We move from rigid to flexible, fluid and flowing. We become more able to move with life rather than constantly resisting it.

  • We let go of ‘should-ing’ and begin to discover our natural potential — what feels right for us, rather than what we think we ought to be doing.

  • We learn to trust ourselves again. Instead of continually looking outside ourselves for answers, permission or reassurance, we begin to listen within.

  • We begin to recognise our own deeper ‘yes’ and ‘no’. Not simply the intellectual answer, but that quiet feeling that comes from somewhere deeper.

  • Our connection with nature deepens. We notice its rhythms, sounds, textures, seasons and subtle changes in a much more intimate way.

  • Our connection with other people can deepen too. We become more attentive to what is being communicated beyond words.

  • Creativity begins to flow more freely. When we stop overthinking and allow ourselves to perceive, new ideas and possibilities have room to emerge.

  • We rediscover curiosity, wonder, joy and playfulness. Sensing doesn't have to be serious work. In fact, curiosity and enjoyment can help us become more receptive.

  • We begin to notice the subtle before it becomes obvious. Tiny shifts, feelings, sensations and signals that might once have passed unnoticed can suddenly become part of our awareness.

  • We move from needing to know... to being willing to sense.

And perhaps, most importantly:

Once we truly connect, we may discover that our senses know far more than we realised.

We are not dealing with the psychic energy per se, but the all-knowing intuitive nature of the energy. Senses are your hyperlinks to a Higher Knowing

Key to unlocking your senses is to relax so that energies and your perception of them can flow.

I've summarised my COMING TO YOUR SENSES technique into a one page 'handout' - just click on the link. Take a look and try it..... it may open up a whole new 'sense' for you!
