EMBEDDING HEALTHY HABITS.

As you may know this month (January) I have been working with a 'MICRO HABIT' - instilling 4 x15 second exercises into my daily 'routine'.
Here are some practical thoughts (I'm using) on what we can do for success .....
1. Start Smaller Than You Think You Should Tiny actions done consistently rewire the nervous system far more effectively than grand gestures that fizzle out.
2. Anchor the Habit to Something You Already Do Link your new habit to an existing routine — after brushing teeth, before tea, during your daily walk. My favourite is waiting for the kettle to boil or when walking the dogs.
3. Work With Your Energy, Not Against It Choose times of day when your body and mind are naturally receptive. Habits thrive when they ride your natural rhythms.
4. Make It Pleasurable If it feels like punishment, it won’t last. Add beauty, scent, music, nature, or comfort wherever you can.
5. Focus on Consistency, Not Perfection Done imperfectly still counts. A habit practiced gently is better than one abandoned in pursuit of “doing it right.”
6. Track Progress in a Kind Way Notice how you feel, not just what you did. Energy, mood, sleep, and ease are powerful markers of success.
Speak to Yourself as a Wise Friend Replace inner pressure with encouragement. Habits grow faster in an atmosphere of compassion.
8. Allow It to Evolve What works in the beginning may change. Let the habit mature as your needs, energy, and seasons shift.
9. Celebrate the Becoming Each repetition is evidence that you are caring for yourself. Pause and acknowledge HOW FAR YOU’VE COME XXX
10. Talk to your body - it hears and listens: Hands on heart, eyes closed: “I choose what supports my life now. I release what no longer serves me. I am safe, I am steady, I am consistent.” Your 'emergency' rescue mantra is to smile, breathe, hold your forehead and simply say 'I CAN DO THIS!'.
Hope this helps! Maddie
